Lake Joy Farmstead and Irishmikesmith.com are now one! You will see that there is a blend of me and we throughout this website because it was my personal blog for over 10 years and has merged into our farm website.
We think you will like it here.
FARM LIFE
Our journey to own our own farm goes back awhile and our dream came true in the Spring of 2020. We are Mike and Dominica, 6 kids, and a whole bunch of animals.
We have many projects going on as we learn how to raise animals for food, fix fences, build fun things like smokers and butcher rooms. We like to make things too. All handmade and small-batch items like bitters and BBQ rubs. You can find more information about our farm store and our Blacksmith Trading Company line here.
In the summer of 2023 we launched our Black Clover Country Coffee Roaster. We worked hard to build relationships with farms that grow excellent coffee, we bring it to our farm, and then roast to perfection. Remember 2nd wave coffee? Coffee that was dark and bold and delicious that kicked off speciality coffee? That is us. Our coffee is excellent as espresso, cold brew, and would like to ride shotgun with you in your truck, on your tractor or somewhere else outside.
FARMHOUSE RECIPES
One of the things we do a lot of around here is cook. It provides therapy. The farmhouse recipe section contains family dinner, sections on curing and smoking meat, fermentation, bread-making and more. The pantry section is a blend of modern pioneering, farm-steading and recipes that we may have lost from our grandparents.
I am asked a lot for recipes so I decided to try my best to catalog them in a simple way by section in my recipe index. Fun to browse and try something new!
FAITH and INSPIRATION
Not just about faith, but a lot of it is. My faith has anchored me and even helped get me through some pretty intense times. I will always consider this the most important part of me.
PODCAST
I also host a podcast called Irish Mike’s Farm Table and we are developing a YouTube channel where you can follow our adventures in farm life, cooking, smoking and curing meat, roasting coffee and preserving.

Comments – I do not edit comments at any time, but will not post them if they are derogatory, hateful, or contain foul language. We work very hard to make sure our content is positive, including comments generated by our readers. This is why I have a fairly robust filter.
