One of the newish burger shops to make a name in our country is Shake Shack. They finally made it out to Seattle with one restaurant now opened and I believe two more scheduled to soon be opened. Here in the PNW, like so many decent chain-like restaurants, the lines were plenty long. Look, I have been, and I like it fine. But it isn’t even in my top 5 (more on that later). One thing I DID like though was their fries. They do a crinkle cut Yukon Gold fry that is pretty tasty. They also do a signature sauce on their burgers and also serve on the side along with said fries.
Recently I took my best attempt at knocking off their sauce and put it the test alongside my crew (other people have too…I am not the only one). We put it up against our “home” fry sauce that we have been using for years (consistent and delicious and also goes great on both the burger and the fries) and the results were pretty consistent across the board. Most like our “home” sauce for fries best, but many liked this “Fake Shack” Sauce on their burgers slightly better.
Here is what we did.
“Fake Shack” Sauce
1/4 cup mayo
1 1/2 t juice from pickle jar
1 1/2 t ketchup
1 t yellow mustard
1/4 t smoked paprika
1/4 t garlic powder
1/4 t onion powder
